A woman who was carrying a shotgun near a park was detained by Fairfield police on Saturday.
Around 7:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a home on White Alder Court after receiving a report of a person who pointed a shotgun at a resident there.
As officers arrived in the area, they found the woman walking along Peppertree Drive toward Laurel Creek Park. The woman was armed with a shotgun and accompanied by a man believed to be her husband.
Police briefly closed roads in the area to traffic while they worked to defuse the situation. Within minutes, both people were detained and the shotgun was recovered.
Officers called for an ambulance to transport the woman to an area hospital for an unspecified mental health condition.
No one was injured in the incident on Saturday.
