Officers with the Fairfield Police Department arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of homicide on Friday.
Around 5:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business in the area of Boyton Avenue and Beck Avenue where they located a 41-year-old male with a stab wound. The victim, who was not identified in a police statement, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they were able to identify a suspect based on a statement made by the victim prior to his death as well as information learned in interviews with eyewitnesses at a nearby homeless encampment.
That information led detectives to Jason M. Thomas, who was arrested and booked into Solano County jail on suspicion of homicide. Police say a weapon believed to have been used in the stabbing was located a short time later.
“This was an isolated incident stemming from a feud between those involved, and there are no other outstanding suspects,” a Fairfield police official said in a statement.
The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police declined to provide additional information on the incident because the investigation is ongoing.
