Firefighters in Fairfield quickly contained a brush fire that broke out near Interstate 80 on Monday.
The fire was initially reported just before 8 p.m. along the 900 block of Beck Avenue. The blaze eventually spread to the shoulder of east-bound Interstate 80 near Travis Boulevard, where it caused a slight slowdown in traffic.
The fire burned through about a half-acre of brush before it was contained to the shoulder of the freeway, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. It started near a homeless encampment where several similar fires have ignited in recent weeks.
