Law enforcement officials in Fairfield are warning about an individual who was twice released on bail after being accused of pepper-spraying individuals and shattering car windows with a pellet gun.
Police said their diligent detective work helped lead to the arrest of Gregory Charles King, 34, multiple times over the last few months after people reported those incidents and others. He has been jailed twice since November but bailed out both times, police said.
King has been identified as the suspect in four cases of vehicular vandalism and two cases of assault through the use of pepper spray. On Monday, authorities released his name, driver’s license photo and details about the alleged incidents, saying they needed to urgently warn the community because he may re-offend.
(Solano News Update recently decided to stop publishing mugshots and other identifying photos of individuals involved in most civil and criminal cases, except those involving a suspect who is alleged to have committed or is wanted for a violent crime or when police raise another credible public safety concern. The decision follows a policy trend at other newsrooms across the country.)
Police also think King may be connected to other incidents that have not yet been reported by victims or eyewitnesses. Officials are asking members of the public who have a report of a similar incident or other case allegedly involving King to give them a call at 1-707-428-7300 and press option 8 when prompted. Those who have reported an incident but haven’t been contacted by a detective are asked to call 707-428-7600.
