A Suisun City educator allegedly abused a third-grade student multiple times over the course of a year, according to new information obtained by Solano NewsNet.
Last Friday, authorities arrested 54-year-old Stephen Gallagher of Fairfield following a lengthy child sex abuse investigation involving a former third-grade student, police said.
In charging documents filed in mid-January and reviewed by Solano NewsNet on Wednesday, Gallagher is accused of engaging in sex acts with a child multiple times between August 2016 and June 2017. Prosecutors allege the victim resided with Gallagher at the time of the abuse.
Gallagher has worked as an educator with the Fairfield-Suisun City School District since 1999, according to a now-deleted social media profile reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
Without using his name, the school district released a statement on Tuesday confirming Gallagher had been removed from the classroom and placed on administrative leave following his arrest.
As of Wednesday, Gallagher did not appear to be in custody. No future court dates were listed in his case.
Police say their investigation is ongoing, and they’re asking for members of the public to contact Detective Jeremy Snyder at 707-421-7373 if they have any more information about Gallagher’s alleged crimes or other instances of child sex abuse.
