A man who allegedly kidnapped his pregnant wife on Saturday has been identified as Steve Brandon Young of Vacaville.
Around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Vacaville police were dispatched to a local motel after receiving a report that Young had assaulted and threatened the lodge’s housekeeper. Police launched a kidnapping investigation after employees alleged to have witnessed Young forcing his wife into the couple’s SUV.
Police attempted to make contact with the couple at a trailer where both are known to live, but the trailer turned up empty.
Around midnight Sunday, authorities gained the ability to trace the wife’s cellphone, which led them to a convenience store along Central Place in Cordelia. Fairfield police called in officers from Vacaville after confirming a vehicle in front of the market matched that of the kidnapping suspect.
Young was detained by Fairfield police and handed over to Vacaville officers on the scene. His wife was transported to an area hospital by ambulance for reasons unrelated to the investigation.
Young was booked into the Solano County Jail on three felony charges, including kidnapping, inflicting corporal injury to a spouse and threatening to terrorize another individual. He was also booked on a misdemeanor charge related to drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at over $130,000, according to booking logs reviewed by Solano News Update.
