A man who was fatally stabbed during an altercation in Fairfield earlier this week has been identified by his family and a law enforcement source as a Vacaville resident.
Ruben Maravilla, 36, was killed Tuesday evening when a fight at a gas station escalated into a stabbing.
Just before 10 p.m., police were dispatched to the gas station along the 1000 block of Oliver Road after receiving a report of two men who were arguing in the parking lot, including one person who was reportedly armed with a knife.
At some point during the argument, Maravilla was stabbed twice in the chest, according to a law enforcement source who spoke with Solano NewsNet on condition of anonymity.
Maravilla collapsed in the parking lot of a hotel near the gas station, where officers located the man and attempted to perform life-saving measures. He was pronounced dead on the scene a short time later.
Police recovered two weapons at the scene of the crime, including a shotgun that was found in a duffle bag near Maravilla’s body and a knife with an extended blade at the gas station.

Detectives believe the victim and the suspect knew each other, and surveillance video recovered from the gas station and eyewitness information given to police have led investigators to conclusively identify a suspect in the case.
As of Thursday evening, no one was in custody in connection with the incident. Police are asking anyone with information about what happened to call detectives at 707-428-7600.
Court records reviewed by Solano NewsNet showed Maravilla was involved in a similar incident involving a fight that included a knife.
In 2011, police in Vacaville arrested Maravilla on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after multiple eyewitnesses pointed to him as the person responsible for injuring two people with a knife during the fight.
The victims sustained minor lacerations to their hands. The Solano County District Attorney’s Office ultimately declined to prosecute the case.
