A Fairfield man who was arrested on a murder charge this week had several pending criminal cases in Solano County prior to Monday’s killing, Solano NewsNet has learned.
Deion Jeremiah Lloyd Diamond, 26, had been arrested or cited several times between last August and this February on a number of criminal accusations, including indecent exposure, driving while intoxicated and for violating a domestic violence restraining order.
The pending criminal cases were all misdemeanors, court records show, and Diamond was released on bail while those cases worked their way through the court system. It was not clear what the conditions of his bail were, but standard terms typically include an agreement that a criminal defendant will not commit another crime while their case is pending before the court.
On Monday, police arrested Diamond on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of 56-year-old Fairfield resident Charles Parsons.
Parsons was the victim of a robbery gone wrong that went down in front of a liquor store along the 1300 block of West Texas Street. Parsons was dropped off at a local hospital for treatment of a stab wound. He died from his injuries.
Diamond later called a police dispatcher and confessed that he was the assailant, Solano NewsNet reported. Police detained him at the scene, and investigating officers later discovered a bloody knife in the backyard of a home near the liquor store.
Another man, identified by police as 43-year-old Ronnie Kaufman, was arrested on suspicion of robbery. He was booked into the Solano County jail with his bail set at $50,000. It was not clear if he was still in jail as of Thursday evening.
Diamond was re-arraigned on his previous criminal charges this week. A judge declined to impose bail on some counts.
