Forecasters with the National Weather Service have issued an Excessive Heat Watch for this Memorial Day weekend.
The warning period starts Sunday, May 30 at 12 p.m. and lasts through Tuesday, June 1 at 8 p.m., according to a bulletin published on Thursday.
Meteorologists with the weather agency said temperatures are expected to linger in the upper-90s, though some areas will see the thermometer cross the 100-degree mark.
Some areas of the Sacramento Valley may see temperatures as hot as 108 degrees, according to forecasters with the agency. Forecasts published by AccuWeather showed Dixon and Vacaville will be the warmest areas of Solano County during the warning period, with sustained temperatures at or above 100 degrees on Sunday and Monday.
The hot weather will result in an increased risk of weather-related fatigue and medical conditions, particularly in sensitive individuals like children, the elderly, households without air conditioning and people who have chronic ailments.
“Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this situation,” a weather official wrote in the bulletin issued on Thursday. “Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air- conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.”
