Equipment failure behind several Fairfield blackouts

The Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) says a series of equipment failures are to blame for several power outages that left hundreds of customers in the dark in Fairfield over the last two days.
The first power outage was reported Monday afternoon, around the same time that Fairfield firefighters were responding to a report of a downed power line on Empire Street.
The outage left more than 5,000 customers in the dark until the equipment was fixed.
At least two more outages were reported on Tuesday, according to a PG&E spokesperson. The first occurred around noon when a fuse issue left nearly 1,600 customers without electricity. The issue was fixed by 12:40 p.m., the spokesperson said.
A larger blackout hit Tuesday evening when around 5,100 customers were left without electricity around 6:40 p.m. That outage was resolved just before 7 p.m. and was sourced to an “equipment issue,” the spokesperson said.
