The Dixon Police Department has identified a suspect who may have been involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident over the weekend.
Police say Jose De Jesus Arauza-Ortiz, 31, of Dixon may be headed to Southern California or Mexico, and they’re asking for the public’s help with information that leads to his capture.
The suspect was identified after police obtained a warrant for his arrest this week, the agency said in a social media post on Tuesday.
Police think Arauza-Ortiz was the driver of a white Nissan Murano that is believed to have struck and killed 71-year-old Adelina Rendon, the owner and cook at Dixon’s Taqueria Adelina.
Rendon’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for her funeral.
A male victim was also located at the scene and treated for serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
Anyone with information about Arauza-Ortiz’s whereabouts are asked to call the Dixon Police Department at 707-678-7080.
