The Dixon Fire Department will host an open house at its headquarters as the agency celebrates its 150th year of service to the community.
In a press release sent on Tuesday, the City of Dixon said the open house will take place on Saturday, October 9 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Dixon Fire Department (205 Ford Way, Dixon).
The fire department serves a population of approximately 25,000 Dixon and Solano County residents across an area of 320 square miles, including 313 square miles of unincorporated Solano County, a city spokesperson said.
“I am proud of the Department and of all the members past and present for reaching this milestone,” Todd McNeal, the city’s fire chief, said in a statement. “We hope the community will help us celebrate and come out to our interactive open house to learn more about fire safety and prevention, as drought and fire dangers continue to grow more severe.”
The open house and milestone celebration will take place at the same time as Fire Prevention Week, officials said.
