A series of radio dispatches signaled the end of a lengthy career for the Fairfield Fire Department’s deputy chief.
Around 2 p.m. Thursday, a Fairfield fire dispatcher said it would be the last shift for Steve Trepagnier, a career firefighter who has been with the agency since 1994.
"Today marks Deputy Chief Steve Trepagnier's final ride on the fire truck," the dispatcher said. "Your impact has been felt in every aspect of this organization. Your dedication and attention to detail is unmatched, and your legacy will live on for many generations. Enjoy Mexico, adios and vaya con Dios, amigo."
The radio call was followed by several additional dispatches from members of the Fairfield Fire Department, Suisun City Fire Department, Vacaville Fire Department and other agencies throughout the area.
"On behalf of the entire Vacaville Fire Department, congratulations on a well-deserved retirement and thanks for all your contributions to Solano County," Kris Concepcion, the chief of Vacaville's fire department, said in a dispatch.
