Crews battle 1-alarm grass fire near Cordelia

Firefighters battled a one-alarm grass fire that broke out in the industrial area of Fairfield near Cordelia on Thursday.
The fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. on the shoulder of Green Valley Road near Business Center Drive.
Multiple motorists called 9-1-1 to report large flames and thick smoke that was creeping closer to the road.
The fire burned through about an acre of grass before firefighters were able to stop forward progress of the blaze.
Smoke from the fire caused traffic disruption on Interstate 80 and south-bound Interstate 680 in the area.
The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. The fire drew a response from Fairfield, Suisun City and CAL FIRE crews.
