Vacaville police officer dies in crash on Leisure Town Road

A Vacaville police officer involved in a traffic stop was struck and killed by a vehicle early Thursday morning, Solano NewsNet has learned.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Leisure Town Road and Orange Drive, close to the Arco gas station.

A motorcycle police officer was engaged in a traffic stop when the collision happened. Multiple vehicles were involved, and the officer was struck by one of the vehicles, according to an eyewitness who spoke with Solano NewsNet.

The officer was transported to a local trauma center in critical condition, where they later died. The identity of the officer was not known as of Thursday afternoon.

The intersection is expected to be closed throughout the day. The California Highway Patrol is assisting with the investigation.
