The Solano County Public Health Office is asking for volunteers to participate in the agency’s upcoming Point in Time (PIT) Count.
The project helps county officials secure funding from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) based on the number of homeless individuals living in the region.
“The unsheltered PIT Count is conducted every other year in Solano County to obtain a snapshot census of people experiencing homelessness in Solano County and is required for Solano County to receive the appropriate amount of state and federal funding to respond to homelessness,” county officials wrote in a social media post.
The count will take place outdoors and COVID-19 safety measures will be carried out.
Volunteers will be expected to attend a training seminar, with the first session being held Monday, January 11 at 6 p.m. A second training session will take place on Thursday, January 14 at 10 a.m. The PIT Count itself will take place on Monday, January 25 and Saturday, January 30.
Those interested in participating are asked to visit Solano County’s PIT Count registration webpage at https://solano.pointintime.info/register.cfm.
