The clear sky and hot weather will give way to cooler temperatures and a very good chance of rain later this week, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.
A ridge of high pressure covering Northern California is expected to keep the sky relatively clear of haze brought on by smoke from wildfires burning far from Solano County, but that smoke coupled with other conditions will continue to influence the heat all around, with temperatures expected to be between 10 and 15 degrees warmer than usual.
Here are today’s high temperatures for cities in Solano County according to AccuWeather:
Benicia: 86 degrees F
Dixon: 94 degrees F
Fairfield: 91 degrees F
Rio Vista: 94 degrees F
Suisun City: 91 degrees F
Vacaville: 93 degrees F
Vallejo: 83 degrees F
The heat will give way to cooler weather starting on Thursday thanks to a low pressure system that will bring a decent chance of rain showers in Solano County and other areas of Northern California — making good on a prediction offered by a National Weather Forecast meteorologist in an interview with Solano News Update last week.
The rain is not expected to trigger landslides or flooding in areas impacted by the LNU Lightning Complex wildfire two months ago, and it is expected to help firefighting efforts in other parts of the state where wildfires continue to burn, the forecaster said.
A bulletin published by the National Weather Service early Tuesday morning said forecast models are still uncertain when rain will move through the region and how much precipitation the system will bring, but meteorologists say light showers might start between Thursday evening and Friday evening, with stronger rain present over the weekend.
The National Weather Service urges those in areas where it may rain to clear leaves and debris from storm drains, clean gutters around the exterior of a home and garage, ensure windshield wiper blades are in good shape and use a vehicle’s headlights whenever driving in rain or snow.
