Officers with the California Highway Patrol will be conducting a maximum enforcement campaign this weekend along Interstate 80.
The event, which the CHP is calling “Saturation Saturday,” takes place on Saturday, February 13.
The CHP said it will be conducting the maximum enforcement campaign following an uptick in speed-related traffic offenses, including motorists who have been ticketed for driving in excess of 100 miles per hour along Interstate 80.
“Traffic collisions caused by high speed impacts significantly decrease the chance of survivability,” a CHP official said in a statement.
The campaign will focus on all roads along Interstate 80 from its starting point in San Francisco to the California-Nevada state line.
The CHP said motorists can avoid being pulled over by going the speed limit, wearing a seat belt and following other traffic regulations.
