The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motor crash that occurred in Fairfield on Wednesday.
In a press release on Thursday, the CHP’s Solano office said its officers responded to a report of a crash along Manuel Campos Parkway Wednesday around 6:30 p.m.
Police say a group of motorcycles were riding along Interstate 80 when they decided to exit at Manuel Campos Parkway. The driver of a 2007 Harley Davidson left the off-ramp for unknown reasons and crashed into a drainage trench.
The driver sustained major injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, the CHP said. The cyclist’s name was not released.
The CHP says its investigation continues, but alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash.
