A Solano County man was arrested on Thursday after a child found his girlfriend stabbed to death in a Fairfield apartment, Solano NewsNet has confirmed.
Late Thursday morning, emergency officials received a call from a child about a possible assault at an apartment along the 200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Police arrived to the apartment within minutes of the call and quickly discovered a woman with a stab wound, according to a source with knowledge of the case. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene; her identity has not been released.
Officers quickly identified Hugo Avelino-Medina, 34, as a suspect in the incident, the source said. He was arrested Thursday afternoon in a San Rafael neighborhood and booked into the Solano County jail on one count of murder and a separate charge related to a probation violation.
Shortly before the alleged murder, Avelino-Medina made several cryptic posts on social media, according to screen captures obtained by Solano NewsNet. In one post, he complained that he was the victim of cyberbullying.
“They made fun of someone they shouldn’t have,” the comment, written in Spanish, said. “Nobody puts me in my place.”
Later in the comment, Avelino-Medina appears to apologize to his children, writing, “I love you.”
The Fairfield Police Department has not released any information about the incident as of Thursday evening. A police spokesperson has not yet returned a request from Solano NewsNet seeking additional information about the homicide.
