Interstate 80 will be closed twice this in the Vallejo area due to ongoing bridge work, the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) announced in a series of social media posts.
The road work is part of the ongoing Six Bridges Project that began late last year in which CalTrans is raising the vertical clearance of some freeway overpasses in Vallejo. The project means CalTrans occasionally has to close a good portion of Interstate 80 through the city, and this week will be no exception.

From Wednesday, March 17 at 11 p.m. until Thursday, March 18 at 4 a.m., CalTrans will close west-bound lanes of Interstate 80 as crews work on the Spring Road overcrossing. CalTrans will close east-bound lanes from Thursday, March 18 at 11:59 p.m. until Friday, March 19 at 5 a.m.
During the closures, motorists will have to use Highway 29, Highway 37 and Interstate 780 as a detour. Signs will be posted alerting drivers of the detour, and a shuttle will be offered to pedestrians and bicyclists who need to travel along affected roadways during the maintenance period, CalTrans said.
Anyone with questions about the road closures or the project is asked to call the CalTrans Six Bridges Project hotline at 1-510-286-5620.
