The California Department of Transportation says it will be closing several freeway off-ramps throughout Vacaville in order to accommodate the funeral procession of Vacaville Police Officer Matthew Bowen on Tuesday.
The ramps will be shut down around 1 p.m., with the closure lasting through 3 p.m. While the procession will wind through surface streets in Vacaville, the off-ramp closures are intended to ensure that traffic does not collect while the motorcade is moving through the city.
The following ramps are slated to be closed during the two-hour window:
Interstate 505 North to Vaca Valley Parkway
Interstate 505 South to Vaca Valley Parkway
Interstate 80 West to Alamo Drive
Interstate 80 East to Alamo Drive
Interstate 80 East to Allison Drive
All other freeway off-ramps through Vacaville will remain open, including east and west Interstate 80 to Leisure Town Road, southbound Interstate 505 to East Monte Vista Avenue, eastbound Interstate 80 to East Monte Vista Avenue and the Mason Street, Depot Street and Peabody Road off-ramps.
Motorists who will be travelling through and into Vacaville on Tuesday are encouraged to seek alternate routes and plan for delays during the afternoon hours.
