Police in Vacaville have ended their search for a wanted suspect who fled from officers at the end of a pursuit on Thursday.
The chase started around 6:10 p.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was spotted in the area of Brown Street and Markham Avenue.
Instead of pulling over, the driver took off and led police on a short pursuit that ended with the suspect fleeing from his car on Scoggins Court.
“Officers set up a perimeter and attempted to locate the man, however they were unsuccessful,” Lieutenant Katie Cardona, a spokesperson for the Vacaville Police Department, told Solano NewsNet on Friday.
No information was given about why police were after the suspect, but a source familiar with the matter said the man was wanted in connection with a violent crime in Suisun City.
A Solano NewsNet photographer witnessed a Suisun City police officer at the scene of the manhunt, and saw the officer examine a firearm and ammunition that was discovered inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Police concentrated their efforts on an apartment complex along Scoggins Court as well as a home on Olivera Drive.
Officers eventually made their way into an abandoned home along the 100 block of Brown Street after receiving a tip that the suspect might have entered the building, according to police radio dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet. The building was cleared a short time later.
Cardona said officers ended their search around 8:30 p.m. and that the matter remains under investigation.
