Firefighters have gained the upper hand on a large grass fire that broke out south of Cordelia on Friday.
The fire was reported around 6:20 p.m. along the south-bound lanes of Interstate 680 near Marshview Road.
The blaze spread to both sides of the freeway before fire crews were able to arrive on the scene.
Traffic was impacted along the freeway. The California Highway Patrol eventually shut down the south-bound lanes of Interstate 680, diverting traffic onto a nearby off-ramp.
Around 20 acres of grass and trees burned for over an hour before fire crews were able to stop its forward progress.
No structures were threatened by the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown.
