A high-speed pursuit that wound through southern Solano County on Wednesday ended with a major crash on the other side of the Carquinez Bridge.
The pursuit came after Dixon police received information about a strong-arm robbery in which a person complained that their laptop had been stolen by individuals associated with a blue Infinity sedan.
A California Highway Patrol officer spotted the vehicle near Red Top Road in Fairfield. When the officer attempted to pull over the vehicle, the suspects took off, leading police on a high-speed chase that wound through Vallejo before ending in a major crash in Crockett.
Two passengers were apprehended after a short foot chase. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before they were arrested.
Police on the scene said they recovered several laptops that appeared to be stolen, including one that matched the description of the item involved in the Dixon theft. One of the individuals involved in the pursuit also matched the description of the suspect wanted in connection with the robbery, police said.
The crash triggered a small fire in the center median of the freeway. Firefighters from Crockett quickly contained the blaze.
First responders have the two left lanes of west-bound Interstate 80 blocked near the Pomona Street on-ramp. A SIG Alert has been issued due to slow traffic through the area; police say there is currently no estimated time of reopening for the affected lanes.
