Two people were arrested at the end of a police pursuit that triggered a brief manhunt in a Vallejo neighborhood late Thursday evening.
Around 11 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers spotted a vehicle that was connected to an alleged theft involving catalytic converters in the Fremont area.
When officers attempted to pull over the vehicle along Interstate 80, it took off, exiting onto Admiral Callaghan Lane and traveling over several surface streets through Vallejo.
About 10 minutes after the pursuit began, it ended near the intersection of Columbus Parkway and Hilary Way, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet. Four people reportedly exited the car, including a driver who attempted to flee from officers by scaling a nearby hill.
A CHP aircraft flew overhead, relaying information to ground officers about the location of the driver. The darkness of night proved problematic during the hunt, and a police K9 was requested from nearby American Canyon.
Before the police dog could arrive on the scene, the suspect apparently lost his footing on the hill and began to slide down. Officers spotted the suspect and took him into custody.
A passenger involved in the pursuit, described only as a female suspect, was also taken into custody. It wasn’t clear if police were continuing to search for other individuals who were involved in the pursuit as of early Friday morning.
