A power outage triggered by a fire on a utility pole left more than 8,000 residents in Fairfield and Suisun City without electrical service on Thursday.
The fire was reported just after 9 p.m. near a home on Allston Court close to Union Avenue in Fairfield.
A responding fire crew reported a fire more than 40 feet up a utility pole. A short time later, power service was interrupted to more than 8,000 customers in Fairfield and nearby Suisun City.
Power was restored to most customers around midnight.
The power line fire happened during a bout of severe weather that saw thunderstorms with dry lightning and little rain impact north Solano County.
The weather event is expected to last through early Friday morning.
