Five people have been injured in a rollover crash that shut down portions of the freeway in Vacaville on Saturday.
Police and paramedics received a call of a traffic crash along east-bound Interstate 80 near the Allison Dr. off ramp around 1 a.m. Saturday.
At least two vehicles were involved in the crash, including a dark-colored Dodge SUV and an Isuzu utility vehicle, according to police dispatches.
A total of five people were injured. The driver of the SUV was reportedly ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Two other were extricated from the vehicle by fire crews.
The amount of injuries resulted in a mass casualty incident declaration and the closure of all lanes of west-bound I-80 just after the E. Monte Vista Avenue off ramp.
In a separate but related incident, police responded to a report that the driver of a second involved vehicle had fled the scene on foot. The driver was located and detained in front of a supermarket less than a mile from the scene.
