Firefighters battling one-alarm vegetation fire in Vallejo

Firefighters in Vallejo battled a one-alarm, wind-whipped vegetation fire that broke out near Mare Island on Thursday.
The fire ignited around 3:45 p.m. along the 200 block of Wilson Avenue near the U.S. Coast Guard building.
The fire grew to around 100 feet in size, triggering a one-alarm response. A responding fire crew said the blaze had a moderate rate of spread.
No buildings were threatened by the fire, and there were no evacuations ordered.
The fire was contained around 4:30 p.m. The cause of the fire was not known as of Thursday evening.
The vegetation fire happened during a Red Flag Warning, which was issued by forecasters for Thursday afternoon to Friday evening. During the Red Flag Warning period, wildfires that start can spread quickly and dangerously.
