One injured in shooting near middle school in Fairfield

One person was injured in an early evening shooting near a middle school in Fairfield on Thursday.
The shooting happened around 7:45 p.m. near Grange Middle School along East Tabor Avenue.
Eyewitnesses told police that at least one person shot at a group of people near a car, then fled the scene on foot.
One person was dropped off at an area hospital with a gunshot wound. The extent of their injury was not immediately known.
Police cordoned off a section of Scott Street near Matthew Drive where officers saw at least one suspect jumping over backyard fences immediately after the shooting.
Around 9:30 p.m., officers found one suspect hiding in the backyard of a home in that neighborhood. A brief struggle ensued, and the person was detained by police..
The suspect was taken by ambulance to an area hospital after being bitten by a police dog during the struggle. His identity was not known as of Thursday evening.
Police continued a search of the neighborhood until around 10:15 p.m. Fairfield officers were assisted by police from Vacaville and air crews from Contra Costa County and the California Highway Patrol.
