More than 100 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Solano County, according to health data released on Monday.
The milestone comes as Solano County health officials have recorded a severe spike in COVID-19 cases, some of which have severely constrained hospital intensive care unit (ICU) space that is needed to respond to the most-severe, life-threatening medical ailments.
County data released late Monday evening showed 104 people were hospitalized in Solano County with coronavirus-related complications, an increase from just over 30 cases one month ago.
Hospitals are struggling to respond to the surge in cases, with fewer than 9 hospital ICU beds available in Solano County, according to state health data released this week.
On Tuesday, state data showed the Bay Area region’s available hospital ICU bed space was 15.6 percent, just slightly above the state’s trigger for imposing tougher restrictions under a stay-at-home order issued earlier this month.
