Manhunt underway in Vacaville after police pursuit

Vacaville police are searching for a person who fled from a traffic stop Wednesday evening.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. after patrol officers spotted a vehicle that was wanted in connection with an armed robbery out of Fairfield.

Police tried to pull over the car in the area of Elmira Road and Peabody Road, but the suspect took off from them. They eventually ditched their car in front of a home along Cascade Drive.

It was not clear if the person wanted by police was still armed, but a gun was not discovered by police inside the abandoned car.

Officers are now canvassing several neighborhoods in the area of Shasta Drive between Elmira Road and Marshall Road. A California Highway Patrol helicopter is helping police with the search.

No other information was immediately available.
