Inmate dies at CSP Solano in Vacaville
The death was reported around 3:45 a.m., according to a state official.
An inmate at the California State Prison in Vacaville died earlier this morning, according to a state official.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the inmate was found unresponsive by guards around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers performed life-saving measures on the inmate, including CPR, but the individual could not be revived.
The name of the inmate has not been released. It was not immediately clear what caused the death and is not known if the inmate suffered from COVID-19 or any other health ailments.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), the state agency that operates prisons throughout California, is conducting an investigation into the death. Their investigation is being monitored by the California Office of Inspector General, according to a spokesperson with the agency.
