Three-alarm fire in Benicia closes Lake Herman Road

Firefighters in Benicia are battling a three-alarm vegetation fire that has drawn resources from across Solano County.
The fire was reported around 4:30 p.m. along the 2000 block of Lake Herman Road near the Benicia Police Department’s shooting range.
The grass fire drew a request for firefighting resources from Fairfield, Vacaville, Suisun Fire Protection District, Travis Air Force Base and CAL FIRE. At least three CAL FIRE aircraft are on the scene of the fire.
As of 6 p.m., the fire had burned 50 acres and was 30 percent contained, CAL FIRE said in a statement. Lake Herman Road is closed in all directions near the scene of the fire.
