Firefighters from multiple agencies battled a two-alarm vegetation blaze that burned several acres of dry land near Suisun City on Tuesday.
The fire broke out around 1:15 p.m. in the area of Cordelia Road and Pennsylvania Avenue.
The start of the fire appeared to originate at a homeless encampment near a canal, fire officials said. Railroad tracks that run through the area were briefly closed down.
Several beekeeping boxes burned in the blaze, sending aggressive bees into the air. At one point, a fire official ordered firefighters with bee-related allergies pulled from the blaze.
Several firefighters were stung by bees, a fire official affirmed, though no one required medical treatment. Around 100 beehives worth $300,000 were destroyed in the fire.
Forward progress of the fire was stopped around 2 p.m. The blaze did not threaten any structures, and no evacuations were issued.
The fire was one of two that erupted in Solano County during a Red Flag Warning period.
Earlier in the day, a four-alarm vegetation fire broke out along Highway 113 near Hay Road east of Vacaville, sending dozens of firefighters into the rural county area. The fire sent a large plume of smoke into the air that was visible from as far away as Sacramento.
