Fairfield police investigate fatal stabbing near gas station

One person is dead after a fight at a gas station turned into a stabbing near a hotel in Fairfield.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. along the 1000 block of Oliver Road when police were initially dispatched to a report of a fight in progress at a gas station there.
When police arrived, they located a person suffering from multiple stab wounds at a nearby hotel less than a block away from the gas station.
The person died from their injuries at the scene. The victim’s identity was unavailable as of early Wednesday morning.
Officers recovered at least two possible weapons at the scene of the crime, including a shotgun that was located in a sports bag near the entrance of the hotel.
Police were searching for a Hispanic male in his 30s with a medium build who was witnessed fleeing the scene in a two-door, late-model Nissan-style sedan.
No other information was available.
