Fairfield police have taken three people into custody in connection with a suspected carjacking out of Richmond.
The capture happened Monday afternoon after a Fairfield police offer patrolling along Dover Avenue received a so-called “LoJack alert” warning of the presence of a possible stolen vehicle nearby. A LoJack is a device installed in cars that emits a silent radio signal that can be received by a patrol car with certain equipment.
The signal ultimately led the officer to a business along North Texas Street near East Pacific Avenue. Police later received information that the stolen vehicle was likely connected to an armed carjacking in Richmond where three suspects armed with AK-47 firearms allegedly stole a burgundy Cadillac Escalade.
Fairfield police detained three individuals around 1:45 p.m. A burgundy SUV was recovered at the scene of the incident.
