A fire at the U.S. Post Office in Fairfield drew a sizable firefighter response on Tuesday.
The fire was spotted by Fairfield police officers around 8:30 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office building along the 600 block of Kentucky Street.
Officers on the scene said an exterior fire was quickly reaching the U.S. Post Office building. They later reported a homeless person suffered burn injuries from the flames.
A fire crew arrived on the scene within minutes and quickly knocked down the fire. An ambulance arrived a short time later and transported the burn victim to an area hospital.
The fire was contained to the outside property and did not enter the U.S. Post Office building itself, firefighters said.
The cause of the fire was not known as of press time.
