Crews battle 2-alarm vegetation fire near Benicia

Fire crews from multiple agencies are battled a two-alarm vegetation fire that broke out near Benicia on Monday.
The fire was reported just before 2 p.m. in an unincorporated part of Solano County near the intersection of Goodwill Road and Pierce Lane.
At one point, the blaze was burning on both sides of Goodyear Road, according to a firefighter.
The fire was burning toward the Goodyear Slough as of 2:15 p.m., a firefighter told the county’s dispatch center.
Firefighters worked for over an hour before declaring that the forward progress of the blaze had been stopped.
Fire crews from Suisun City, Vallejo and Benicia were dispatched to assist, as well as an aerial firefighting vehicle from CAL FIRE.
There is no official word on what caused the fire, nor is it clear how many acres were burned.
