California Governor Gavin Newsom will remain in officer after defeating a Republican-led recall effort, according to projections made by numerous television networks on Tuesday.
Less than an hour after polling places in California closed, television broadcasters NBC and CBS along with cable news network CNN projected Newsom had defeated the recall effort with a landslide victory.
In Solano County, preliminary data released by the Solano County Registrar of Voters showed nearly 70 percent of voters rejecting the recall effort.
The preliminary information was based on nearly 100,000 mail-in ballots and 9 provision ballots processed and counted by the county election office. No election day voter data was available as of 8:45 p.m.
