Two-alarm fire draws large firefighting response to Benicia

A two-alarm vegetation fire drew a large firefighting response to Benicia on Wednesday.
The fire broke out around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Goodyear Road and Lake Herman Road west of the Goodyear Slough.
Flames and smoke were seen from nearby Interstate 680, prompting a temporary closure of northbound lanes
Firefighters from Fairfield, Suisun City and Contra Costa County provided assistance during the blaze.
The cause of the fire was not known as of Wednesday evening.
