Benicia fire crews contain grass blaze that spread to apartments

Fire crews have knocked down a vegetation fire that spread to a nearby apartment complex in Benicia.
The fire broke out around 5:30 p.m. along Interstate 780 near Warwick Drive. The one-alarm vegetation fire spread close to a nearby apartment complex, triggering a significant mutual aid response.
Crews from Crockett, Fairfield and Vallejo were dispatched to assist Benicia firefighters during the blaze.
The fire was contained around 6 p.m. A firefighter reported both exterior and interior
A fire investigator is headed to the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
UPDATE: Fire has been upgraded to a first alarm, crews say structures are now on fire. #WarwickDriveFire
