Fairfield police have identified a woman whose body was found in the parking lot of a local mall early Wednesday morning.
Around 6 a.m., Fairfield police received a call of a woman who was passed out near a shopping cart in the upper parking lot of the Macy’s department store at Solano Town Center.
A medical crew from the Fairfield Fire Department was dispatched to the scene. Prior to their arrival, the fire crew was told the woman had no pulse, according to dispatches reviewed by Solano NewsNet.
The woman, who was later identified as Jasmine Morales, 24, was declared deceased at the scene.
In a statement posted to Facebook, a Fairfield Police spokesperson initially said the death was deemed suspicious despite any signs of trauma. An updated statement released Wednesday evening said an autopsy revealed the presence of controlled substances.
“More information is needed from the full toxicology report to help understand what happened,” the spokesperson said. “The cause of her death is inconclusive at this time.”
Police are still trying to figure out what led up to Morales’ death, including how she wound up in the mall’s parking lot. Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives by calling 707-428-7600.
