A 15-year-old could be criminally charged after he was accused of trying to acquire playing cards that were laced with LSD.
In a social media post published on Wednesday, officials with the Benicia Police Department said they interdicted a shipment from abroad that was intended for the local teenager.
Photos posted to Facebook showed at least two Magic the Gathering playing cards alongside strips of paper that purportedly contained the drug.
Police say the case has been forwarded to the Solano County District Attorney’s Office for possible charges.
“We would like to make parents and guardians aware of this incident. With the ease of technology, illegal drugs are becoming more accessible to everyone,” a police spokesperson wrote on Wednesday. “Make sure you are aware of all transactions that your children are making online.”
