A sleeping man led Benicia police officers to discover a cache of stolen credit cards, shaved keys and at least one firearm earlier this week.
The bust happened on Sunday when officers found a person who was passed out in the driver’s seat of a Honda Accord along the 1900 block of Second Street.
After officers woke the man up, he tried to flee from the scene. Police were able to detain him a short time later without further incident.
A search of the car turned up several items associated with theft, including shaved keys that are used to fool door locks into opening, and stolen credit cards. A later search of a hotel room associated with the suspect turned up at least one firearm, according to police.
The man was identified through jail booking logs as 24-year-old Nicholas Maisnier. He was booked into Solano County jail on various felony and misdemeanor charges.
