An incident at a refinery in Contra Costa County has caused an annoying odor to drift into Benicia, the local fire department said in a statement on Tuesday.
The incident happened Tuesday evening at the Philips 66 Refinery in Rodeo, according to information from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District.
The event, which was described as a “plant upset,” has caused an annoying gas to filter into parts of Benicia due to wind.
“We currently do not anticipate any off-site health impacts,” the fire department said in a statement released Tuesday evening.
Anyone with questions about the incident is asked to contact Benicia Fire Department Division Chief Jed Matcham at 707-746-4742 or by emailing hazmatliaison@ci.benicia.ca.us.
