A man is behind bars after being arrested for an alleged armed carjacking in Benicia on Thursday.
Around 5:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to a reported carjacking in the area of Goodyear Road, according to information posted on social media.
A short time later, patrol officers spotted a vehicle around Industrial Park that matched the description of the one involved in the carjacking.
The suspect, identified in public records as 30-year-old Javance Cook, was taken into custody without incident. The victim of the carjacking was treated for minor injuries sustained in the incident.
Officers located a firearm and “a large amount of suspected methamphetamine for sale” during a search of the car, the agency said on Friday.
“We are glad that a gun and narcotics are off the street, and that the incident ended peacefully,” an agency spokesperson said.
