The amount of available hospital intensive care unit (ICU) bed space dropped to 15.8 percent in the Bay Area region, according to state health data reviewed by Solano News Update on Tuesday.
The rate was just slightly above the state’s trigger for new COVID-19 restrictions on residents and businesses as required under a stay-at-home order issued earlier this month.
In Solano County, the amount of available hospital ICU beds dipped to 16 percent as of late Monday evening, a decrease from 20 percent just one day earlier.
For the first time since the pandemic, county health officials reported more than 100 people were hospitalized with coronavirus-related medical complications, the data reviewed by Solano News Update showed.
