The Solano County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the illegal dumping of three dog carcasses in a Vallejo neighborhood overnight.
On Monday, residents along Falcon Drive and Courtland Circle said they found three garbage bags with dead dogs inside.
A resident who made one of the discoveries told local news station KTVU (Channel 2) the dogs appeared to be German Shepard puppies.
“It clearly didn’t look like they were sickly or had hair coming off or anything,” the unnamed resident told the TV station. “I think there had to be some kind of abuse.”
The resident said they called Vallejo’s Animal Control department, which is operated by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, for help, only to be referred to Vallejo Recology, the city’s trash collection service.
A Recology official said the trash company would respond around 10 a.m. to pick up the dogs, but Animal Control eventually showed up to the scene and said the Sheriff’s Office would investigate the situation.
No suspects have been identified in connection with the case.
