County election officials to brief Board of Supervisors on California Forever initiative
The briefing, which will include an overview of the petition signature count, will take place during the Board of Supervisors meeting scheduled for Tuesday.
The Solano County Registrar of Voters will brief the Board of Supervisors on the results of a signature-gathering effort and subsequent petition submitted by California Forever related to their development project called the East Solano Plan.
As part of the presentation, election officials will present the Board of Supervisors with a certified statement that says the East Solano Plan gathered enough verified signatures to qualify for the November ballot. From there, the Board of Supervisors will determine whether to immediately approve the plan, place it on the November ballot or request an impact report before taking additional steps on the measure.
Election officials say they will recommend county supervisors adopt the third option, and prepare a report that will be presented at an upcoming meeting in mid-July.
The Board of Supervisors meeting is typically held early in the morning, but the presentation made by election officials will occur later in the day. The presentation has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 25 at 2 p.m., and members of the public who want to comment on the East Solano Plan or California Forever will be allowed to do so at that time.
The public comment portion of the meeting will occur after election officials have made their presentation, and anyone wishing to address the Board of Supervisors will need to do so in-person. There will not be a telephone conference line or a Zoom meeting for those who want to comment but can’t attend the meeting, though the meeting will be live-streamed on the county’s website for those who want to watch from home, school or work.
County officials say public comments may be limited to no longer than 60 seconds. Signs, posters and noisemakers are not allowed in the meeting space.
The Board of Supervisors meeting is hosted at the Solano County Administration Center, located at 675 Texas Street in the Board Chambers in Fairfield.
